You want to finish concrete just before the concrete sets up, meaning when finger pressure just dents the surface. Finish blades have straight edges and are made of high-quality, hardened steel to withstand the abrasive action of concrete. The operator will tilt the finish blades slightly, depending on the hardness of concrete, generally 3 to 5 degrees. You must excercise care in determining the proper tilt to apply, too much will scar or "burn" the concrete. By finishing concrete you are polishing the slab, leaving it hard and smooth. These surfaces will however become quite slippery when wet. If desired you can slightly roughen the surface to product a nonslip finish by brushing or brooming after finishing with one of our concrete brooms. |
